Alternative Animal Testing Promotion Project in Food Sector (AAT Project)
Project Objectives
(1)
Improving predictabilities to humans of food safety and efficacy assessment of food and/or food ingredients through promoting the development of alternative methods to animal testing.
(2)
Consequently promoting alternative to animal testing in food sector.

Current Activities
Activities of four working groups are underway from three perspectives (Promoting researches, Collecting and Disseminating information) in cooperation with related experts and academic bodies (Fig.1 and 2).

WG2:Effective use of existing data and information
(3)
WG3:Creation and dissemination of case reports
(4)
WG4:Planning and Preparation of international workshop and symposium

Future Activities
(1)
Establishing safety risk assessment strategies for food ingredients with improved predictabilities to humans using non-animal approaches (Fig.3).
(2)
Holding international workshop and symposium in Japan, aiming to promote alternative to animal testing in food sector.
 The events are planning to be held at Tokyo in October 2021.
(3)
Creating and disseminating a workshop report of the event.
 The report will be disseminated in Spring 2022.
